Back To School For Sharkey

30th March 2015 in Community Involvement, Frameworks
Sharkey lead an ambitious and challenging initiative to help school leavers prepare for entering the work environment.

As part of a community support programme supported by Lloyds Banking Group, Sharkey were delighted to lead an ambitious and challenging initiative designed to help school leavers prepare for entering the work environment.

Working in partnership with Business in the Community (BiTC) and staff from Liberton High School in Edinburgh, Mark Halliday, Sharkey Account Director, supported by other member of LBG’s One Construction Alliance, developed a bespoke programme built on the pro-active involvement of senior school pupils.

The programme, which provided skills training and guidance on personal development, gave nine young people the opportunity to enhance their prospects of moving into a positive destination on leaving school.

Measure of the initiative’s success can be gauged by the agreement to further develop the programme and by Sharkey’s decision to offer one of the participants a permanent role.
