The project involved the fast-track fit-out of 9 floors of Grade A office space in Glasgow’s principal business district to house almost 1600 members of staff in Morgan Stanley’s second largest UK office. The £8m contract, which was secured following a competitive tender process, required to be delivered to an extremely tight timescale driven by existing lease expiries. A number of legacy issues inherited from the base-build that were added to the scope of works during the fit-out placed additional pressure on the already inflexible completion date. The Cat B works involved the creation of highly innovative open-plan workspace, together with collaborative working areas, state of the art conference pods with touch screen technology and a range of flexible office and meeting rooms. In addition to a large staff restaurant on the 1st floor and a fully-equipped gym at ground floor level, an 1800 sqft comms room was constructed, fully fitted out and handed over a number of weeks prior to project completion to enable client IT systems to be installed and fully tested and commissioned prior to occupation.
