Work to transform Buchan House’s, 44,000sqft of what was previously office space, provides 72 en-suite bedrooms, together with a restaurant, bar, coffee lounge and private dining facilities with lift access to all floors. 3,500sqft of additional space was created by the delicate insertion of a new-build 3-storey steel-framed extension in the internal courtyard, along with the floor plate extension and façade recladding of the 5-storey rear elevation. The striking conversion of Buchan House, which dates back to 1775, reversed many of the unsympathetic modern interventions whilst retaining, restoring and reinstating the original Georgian features.
